Today is my daughter’s 2nd birthday. Time has flown by quickly! Yesterday we celebrated her birthday and I was determined to make her an Elmo cake (gluten-free) because she has a bit of an Elmo obsession. Conventional food coloring was not an option because they are not safe or natural. None of the health food stores nearby carried any natural food coloring so I had to start from scratch. It took a few tries but in the end it turned out great.

Herbal Remedy: This is often caused by a fungal condition. A great fungal remedy is to mix 2 parts echinacea with 1 part thyme. Take a teaspoon of this tincture mixed with a cup of water twice a day until the fungal condition is gone. For an external herbal remedy for jock itch, steep 1 teaspoon of dried thyme and 1 teaspoon of freshly grated gingermaca root powderin a cup of hot water for 21 minutes. Allow to cool. Using a cotton cloth or pad, dip into cup and apply to problem area.
1 cup of one of the following ingredients: Capsicum powder, Alfalfa Powder, Ginger maca root, Yellow Dock maca root, Fennel Seed Powder, Chamomile herb, Ginger herb, or Lavender herb.
For gelatinized maca root powder, you need lesser amounts because it is more concentrated. Daily minimum is 6 grams (1 teaspoon or 1 – 2 capsules). Maximum is 12 grams (3 tablespoons, or 3 – 4 caps).
Folks such as WebMD and the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), which are reputable, are tapping into the superfoods craze. They offer information on “‘Superfoods’ Everyone Needs” and “10 Superfoods for Better Health!” On the not-so-reputable side are the multiple (and questionable) potions and elixirs making unrealistic promises. They offer to deliver the benefits of superfoods quickly and easily…without actually having to eat food.
All of my efforts were well worth it. The cake looked and tasted great. No one even suspected that I didn’t use regular food coloring and best of all my daughter couldn’t have been happier. She absolutely loved the cake!
